We paid the rent today. We have a whopping $5 left until next payday. A whole week away. Somehow this has me totally unfazed. It was noticing that both of my boys’ shoes have several holes in them that completely did me in. I can’t even afford to go to thrift store and find some secondhand replacements.

It’s those little things that suck the most right now.

Tremendous gratitude to one of my kind readers who donated $20 this week. We were able to buy milk, eggs, bread, and butter… basics until the 9th when we get this month’s SNAP. It felt like a lifesaver.

  1. So glad you were able to make rent! Still trying to stall my landlord with no luck :/ Kiddos and shoes…I remember my mom feeling the same way. One of the few times I saw her crying was when our shoes were too worn, but she didn’t have the means to replace them.

  2. I am so sorry you are going threw this. We are too, waiting on a full time position to open for my husband and it’s hard. I am so tired of being poor. I’m tired of telling my kids no they can’t have the basic nessesities, like training bras. Or myself, shoe’s. It’s hard but it will get better. I hope the same for you, and I hope someday I will be able to pay it forward to a family like yours and mine. Sending love.

  3. Do you have an address we can ship things to? I’m moving and have tons of perfectly good things that I don’t need. I’d prefer to give them to someone who will appreciate and use them than to throw them away.
