Weekend Reading

Basically, this is my link dump from everything I read over the week. I’m gifting it to you.

“Effective health care activism & advocacy needs to include disabled and chronically ill people.” https://t.co/jKxkMJ0gH0
Resistance: Pick a cause, make it yours – excellent advice for a lot of us who are overwhelmed with the magnitude of work to be done. I can’t say that I’ve narrowed down to any one cause but I would probably be better off if I did
The Criminalization of Poverty – we all know this story but still, great coverage by SPIN magazine
I am so Angry and Tired and Sad but I Refuse to Stop Rising Up – One my my most beloved bloggers wrote this. I love her and this, too ♥♥♥
5 Ways to Support Undocumented Folks – These are all good ways. Also check locally to see if there’s an advocacy group. Last week my local county sheriff made a statement following efforts to not only make Ithaca a sanctuary city but the entire county that essentially said he would never instruct his deputies to actively alert authorities about undocumented people (and added that if someone commits a crime and they’re undocumented, then obviously they’re not going to get away with it because that’s basic common sense). I intend to write him a thank you letter.
How to Boycott DAPL Banks – this is honestly the best and probably only chance to stopping DAPL but it’s going to take more than individuals. We need whole cities and companies to divest & withdraw
Amazon’s Supposed Automated Grocery Store Will Have as Little as 3 Human Employees — Grocery News–  yet another example of why we need universal basic income here in the U.S.

Thor Harris from Swans gave a brief tutorial on Nazi-punching
Ok,that’s all. Have a great weekend. Here’s a song of the day:
“Angelina” by Pinegrove. It’s a live version but not the same live version that’s on their new live album “Elsewhere”, currently available to purchase HERE as a “pay what you want” with ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO THE SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER. Good cause, good music.

  1. Here’s an interesting point of view from the other side. (It’s never good to live in a bubble.)

    1. I can’t read that link but my entire family is Republican, as is my husband’s fam and the majority of his friends so I’m sure whatever it says, I’ve heard it all before.
